Tiny Tots Recruitment is looking for a Deputy Club Manager to join a well-established wraparound childcare setting in York.
This is a permanent position working 30 hours per week, supporting the delivery of breakfast, after-school and holiday club provision for school-aged children.
It's a brilliant opportunity for someone who enjoys working with older children and wants a leadership position that feels different from a traditional nursery environment. You'll help create a space where children can relax after school, spend time with friends, get involved in activities and simply enjoy being children.
Working alongside the Club Manager, you'll play a key part in leading the team and ensuring children receive safe, engaging and high-quality childcare throughout the year.
What you'll be doing:
Supporting the Club Manager with the day-to-day running of the setting Taking responsibility for the club when the Manager is unavailable Leading and supporting Playworkers across breakfast, after-school and holiday provision Helping plan varied activities including crafts, games, sports and outdoor play Making sure activities reflect children's different ages, interests and abilities Creating an environment where children feel safe, included and able to relax Supporting staff deployment and ensuring appropriate supervision throughout sessions Building positive relationships with children and their families Helping maintain excellent safeguarding and welfare standards Supporting behaviour positively and consistently Ensuring equipment and activity areas remain safe, organised and engaging Supporting trips, outings and themed activities during school holidays Helping develop less experienced members of the childcare team Contributing ideas to continually improve the experience offered to children
What we're looking for:
Previous experience working with children in a childcare, education, playwork or similar environment Experience supporting or supervising other members of staff Confidence taking responsibility when senior colleagues are unavailable Strong safeguarding awareness A positive and approachable leadership style The ability to organise activities for children across different age groups Good communication skills with children, parents and colleagues Someone energetic, dependable and able to use their initiative A genuine understanding that school-aged childcare should be safe and structured without feeling like an extension of the school day
