Nursery Practitioner

Level 2 Nursery Practitioner

Sutton, London full time Permanent

£26,520 per year

A nursery inside a beautifully converted church isn't your standard workplace. This Level 2 Nursery Practitioner job in Sutton starts from £26,520 per year, with childcare support, employee discount, wellbeing benefits, a referral scheme and a genuinely distinctive environment designed around children's independence and creativity.

Picture your nursery room.

Now put it inside a converted church.

Add a treehouse-inspired play space, dedicated art areas, a Construction Zone, a proper children's library and huge open spaces where children can choose what they want to explore.

That's where this Level 2 Nursery Practitioner job in Sutton is based.

Tiny Tots Recruitment is looking for a qualified early years practitioner to join an established family-run nursery just off Cheam Road.

And visually, it is probably one of the most distinctive settings on our books.

It doesn't feel like every other nursery

The building has been carefully converted into five separate nursery classrooms, while retaining the scale and character of the original church.

Inside you'll find:

A treehouse-themed room Dedicated creative and art areas A Construction Zone A children's library Large open play spaces Child-height accessible resources A dedicated preschool classroom A calm baby room limited to just six children per day

The design is intended to give children freedom to move between experiences and follow their interests rather than having every part of their day dictated to them.

This is Level 2, not "Level 3 preferred"

We're specifically looking for somebody holding a full and relevant Level 2 Early Years or Childcare qualification.

So if you've ever seen a vacancy advertised as Level 2 or Level 3 and wondered whether they secretly only want the Level 3 candidate, that isn't what we're doing here.

Your qualification is enough to apply.

You'll be involved in:

Building secure relationships with your key children Supporting children's learning and development Completing observations and developmental records Creating activities around children's interests Supporting children's communication and confidence Encouraging independence Working closely with parents and carers Providing high-quality care throughout daily routines Supporting children's emotional wellbeing Maintaining strong safeguarding standards Working collaboratively with the wider nursery team Contributing your own ideas to the room

The employer's current practitioner recruitment specifically looks for people who can support observations and reports, communicate effectively with families and contribute to engaging educational experiences.

Storytelling gets its own place here

There's another part of the nursery approach that's a little different.

Children regularly take part in Debutots sessions, using stories, sensory play, movement, drama and role play to develop communication and a genuine enjoyment of language.

As children get older, that develops into retelling stories and participating more actively in imaginative drama.

The nursery also takes children on regular trips within the local community and further afield, helping them develop confidence outside of the nursery environment.

So there should be plenty to talk about when someone asks what your key children have actually done this week.

The practical stuff

The nursery operates:

Monday to Friday 7:30am to 6:30pm

and runs all year except for Christmas week and bank holidays.

The wider organisation is family-run rather than a national nursery chain and currently operates four bespoke settings across South West London and Sutton. Its current recruitment specifically includes its SM1 Sutton location as part of the hiring campaign.

What comes with the role?

Current employer recruitment confirms:

Salary from £26,520 per year Permanent, full-time employment Childcare benefit Employee discount Cycle to work scheme Discounted or free food Health and wellbeing programme Referral programme Additional annual leave provision Financial wellbeing support

The nursery also prepares children's food through in-house chefs, using seasonal menus that are nutritionist approved.

Why might this one suit you?

Maybe you're Level 2 qualified and don't want to be treated like you're simply waiting to become Level 3.

Maybe you want somewhere a little more individual than a huge nursery chain.

Or maybe spending five days a week inside a converted church with a treehouse sounds considerably better than another beige purpose-built classroom.

If you're looking for a Level 2 Nursery Practitioner job in Sutton, Early Years Practitioner role in SM1 or qualified nursery position near Cheam and Carshalton, we'd love to hear from you.

Apply today through Tiny Tots Recruitment for a confidential conversation about the opportunity.
