Children do not need every minute of their day planned for them. Sometimes the best learning starts with whatever has caught their attention.
Tiny Tots Recruitment is looking for a Level 2 or Level 3 Nursery Practitioner to join a busy and established early years setting in Caversham, Reading.
The nursery's approach puts play, curiosity and children's natural interests at the centre of learning. Practitioners are encouraged to notice what fascinates individual children and use this as the starting point for experiences that help them explore, question and develop.
The setting cares for children from three months through to school age, with separate environments for babies, toddlers and preschool children. Its large building also includes a dedicated communication space used for stories and phonics, alongside extensive indoor and outdoor provision.
What you'll be doing: Providing high-quality care and early education for young children Supporting learning and development in line with the EYFS Building secure and positive relationships with children Acting as a Key Person and understanding children's individual development Observing children's interests, progress and emerging needs Creating engaging play-based learning opportunities Encouraging children to become active and curious learners Supporting children's communication, confidence and independence Working across carefully designed age-appropriate environments Taking children outdoors throughout the year Building positive partnerships with parents and carers Supporting children's individual routines and wellbeing Maintaining a stimulating, welcoming and well-organised environment Following nursery safeguarding, policies and procedures Working closely with colleagues to maintain consistently high standards Continuing to develop your own early years knowledge and practice What we're looking for: A full and relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years or Childcare qualification Previous experience in a nursery or early years environment Good practical understanding of the EYFS Strong safeguarding awareness A warm, enthusiastic and motivated approach Someone who genuinely enjoys learning through play Confidence communicating with children, families and colleagues Good teamwork skills Someone who can recognise and build on children's individual interests A practitioner keen to continue learning and developing professionally What's on offer: £26,000 to £29,000 per year Permanent employment Full-time opportunity Part-time working may also be considered Banana Moon professional training Continuous professional development programme Support from a dedicated head office quality and improvement team Play-led early years curriculum Daily outdoor play throughout the year Large and well-equipped nursery environment Dedicated age-group rooms Separate baby sleep room Dedicated communication and story area Natural outdoor play opportunities Opportunity to develop additional responsibilities as your experience grows
Professional development is one of the strongest reasons to consider this role. The employer's current vacancy specifically confirms Banana Moon brand training and a continuous professional development programme supported by its head office quality and improvement team.
The nursery's philosophy also gives practitioners room to actually practise good early years education. Its curriculum describes children's natural fascinations as the starting point for learning, with open-ended resources and experiences designed to promote curiosity and exploration rather than a heavily adult-directed day.
The physical environment is well developed too. Children spend time outdoors every day throughout the year, while the nursery has dedicated sleep provision for babies, interactive learning facilities and a secure natural outdoor environment.
