Nursery Practitioner

Level 2 or Level 3 Nursery Practitioner

Hemel Hempstead, East of England full time Permanent

£26,520 per year

They're recruiting because the nursery is growing. This Level 2 or Level 3 Nursery Practitioner job in Hemel Hempstead starts from £26,520 per year for a 40-hour week, with additional leave, pension, employee discount, company events and a genuine focus on staff training and progression.

Sometimes a vacancy tells you something about a nursery.

This one does.

The setting isn't looking for practitioners because they're trying to rebuild an empty team.

Children's numbers are growing, so the team is growing with them.

Tiny Tots Recruitment is looking for a Level 2 or Level 3 Nursery Practitioner in Hemel Hempstead to join a bright, spacious nursery in Bennetts End.

The employer is currently recruiting across several of its rooms and describes the expansion as a direct result of increasing numbers of children attending.

That's a much nicer reason to be hiring.

Four rooms, four different stages

The nursery is registered for 54 children from six months to five years and has four dedicated rooms:

Tiny Dreamers 6 to 16 months

Little Dreamers 16 to 28 months

Little Makers 2 to 3 years

Little Storytellers 3 to 5 years

So whether you love the tiny baby stage, toddlers discovering they can do absolutely everything themselves, or preparing preschoolers for school, there are different opportunities within the setting.

You'll work alongside experienced Room Supervisors rather than being left to figure everything out alone.

What does the job involve?

You'll be part of the everyday care and education of the children within your room, including:

Building secure relationships with your key children Planning activities around children's interests and development Observing children's progress Supporting communication, independence and confidence Creating engaging and stimulating experiences Working closely with Room Supervisors and other practitioners Supporting children's personal care and daily routines Maintaining strong safeguarding standards Following nursery policies and procedures Communicating effectively with parents and carers Contributing ideas to the room Making sure children's individual needs remain central to their day

The nursery specifically wants practitioners who genuinely enjoy working in early years rather than somebody simply looking for their next childcare job.

Staff development isn't decided entirely for you

This is one detail I particularly like.

The nursery doesn't just arrange compulsory training and tell everybody to attend.

Management says practitioners are encouraged to suggest training themselves and choose development opportunities that meet their own individual needs and career goals.

So if there's an area of early years practice you want to strengthen, you're encouraged to have some ownership over where your CPD goes.

The employer describes itself as passionate about training and progression for staff, and its current recruitment also confirms plenty of training and development opportunities.

The setting itself

The nursery changed ownership in August 2022, after which the setting was redecorated and new resources were introduced throughout.

It's now a bright and spacious environment with:

Four age-specific playrooms A large outdoor area Access to a neighbouring field Nearby parks and play areas Regular walks within the local community Child-accessible resources designed to encourage independence An on-site chef Fresh meals prepared from scratch Famly used for children's observations and daily updates

The nursery is also only minutes from the M1 and M25, with links towards Apsley railway station.

That's worth knowing if you're commuting from elsewhere around Hertfordshire.

What they're offering From £26,520 per year based on a 40-hour week Permanent opportunity Full-time position Monday to Friday Additional leave Company pension Employee discount Company events Ongoing training Professional development opportunities Opportunity for progression within the nursery Established management team Growing nursery Freshly updated resources and environments

The setting itself operates 51 weeks per year, closing for bank holidays and one week at Christmas.

Level 2s are welcome too

This is worth making clear because we'd lose candidates unnecessarily by advertising it only as Level 3.

The employer's own current recruitment specifically accepts practitioners holding a full and relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years qualification.

You'll ideally also have previous nursery experience and a genuine interest in children's learning and development.

You don't need to be looking for management immediately either.

There is plenty to be said for finding a nursery where you can become a stronger practitioner first.

If you're looking for a Level 2 Nursery Practitioner job in Hemel Hempstead, Level 3 Early Years Practitioner role in Hertfordshire or qualified nursery job near Apsley, we'd love to hear from you.
