Three long nursery days and four days away from work could be the balance you've been looking for.

Tiny Tots Recruitment is looking for a Level 2 or Level 3 Nursery Practitioner to join a small and established early years setting in Hove, East Sussex.

This opportunity stands out from the usual five-day nursery week. The current requirement is for around 30 hours across three days, working all year round.

The preschool itself is intentionally small, caring for up to just 20 children and primarily supporting three and four-year-olds as they build the confidence and independence they need before starting school.

What you'll be doing: Providing high-quality care and early education Supporting children's learning and development through the EYFS Acting as a Key Person or supporting children's Key Person arrangements Building warm and secure relationships with children Observing children's progress, interests and individual needs Planning and participating in indoor and outdoor activities Encouraging children's confidence and independence ahead of school Supporting communication, social skills and emotional development Making full use of the setting's extensive outdoor provision Working alongside colleagues to create engaging learning experiences Communicating children's progress with parents and carers Supporting children through everyday routines Maintaining accurate records using the setting's digital systems Following nursery policies, procedures and safeguarding requirements Working positively with parents and outside professionals where required What we're looking for: A full and relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years qualification Previous experience working with young children Good practical understanding of the EYFS Strong safeguarding awareness A friendly, reliable and enthusiastic approach Good communication and organisational skills Someone who works well as part of a close-knit team Confidence building relationships with parents and carers Flexibility around nursery working hours A genuine passion for helping young children learn and develop

A current Paediatric First Aid certificate and safeguarding training would be useful, but the setting specifically confirms that training can be arranged where required, so candidates should not be put off if these need refreshing.

What's on offer: Approximately £20,280 to £22,620 per year based on 30 contracted hours Permanent employment 30 hours across three days per week All-year-round contract Monday to Friday nursery environment Four non-working days each week Paediatric First Aid training where required Safeguarding training where required Ongoing training opportunities Career progression support Small preschool environment Large dedicated outdoor area Forest School and outdoor learning provision Opportunity to work within an independent childcare organisation

The setting's outdoor provision is one of its strongest features. The preschool has a very large outdoor area and a dedicated Outside/Forest School practitioner, giving children considerably more opportunity for physical activity, exploration and nature-based learning than many small urban settings.

There's also evidence that development happens in practice rather than simply appearing in recruitment copy. The current team includes people who originally joined through bank work or apprenticeships and have since progressed into permanent practitioner, team leader, deputy and management positions.

The wider organisation explicitly says it wants staff to continue developing their childcare knowledge, attend courses they are passionate about and have opportunities for career progression.
