Tiny Tots Recruitment is looking for a Nursery Chef to join an established early years setting in Harrogate, North Yorkshire.
This is a permanent, part-time position working approximately 25 hours per week, giving you the opportunity to use your kitchen experience in a completely different environment.
You'll take responsibility for preparing fresh, nutritious meals and snacks for young children, including those with allergies, intolerances and individual dietary requirements. Food is prepared on site, with the nursery placing a strong emphasis on helping children develop positive and healthy relationships with food from an early age.
What you'll be doing:
Preparing fresh, balanced meals and snacks for nursery children Following menu plans while ensuring meals are appropriate for young children Catering safely for allergies, intolerances and individual dietary requirements Managing the day-to-day organisation of the nursery kitchen Monitoring portion sizes and ensuring meals are ready at appropriate times Following strict food hygiene and food safety procedures Maintaining accurate kitchen, allergy and temperature records Ensuring the kitchen remains clean, organised and compliant Managing food storage and stock rotation Supporting food ordering and reducing unnecessary waste Communicating closely with nursery practitioners regarding children's dietary needs Helping create positive experiences around food and mealtimes Maintaining consistently high standards of hygiene and safeguarding
What we're looking for:
A relevant catering, cookery or food preparation qualification, ideally Level 2 or above Previous experience working within a professional kitchen Good knowledge of food hygiene and safe food preparation Confidence managing allergies and dietary requirements Strong organisation and time management skills Someone comfortable taking responsibility for their own kitchen A reliable and professional approach An understanding of the importance of nutrition for young children Nursery, school, care or education catering experience would be advantageous but is not essential
