You know that feeling when it's technically your room, but you're not actually given the freedom to lead it?
This isn't supposed to be that kind of role.
Tiny Tots Recruitment is looking for a Nursery Room Leader in Edenbridge who wants proper responsibility for their room, their team and the quality of children's experience within it.
The nursery is a substantial setting with space for up to 70 children from three months to five years, with dedicated rooms for different age groups rather than trying to make one environment work for everybody.
Your room. Your standards.
You'll still be hands-on with children every day.
The difference is that you'll also be the person making sure the whole room works.
You'll be responsible for things such as:
Setting the tone and expectations within your room Supporting and supervising the practitioners working alongside you Making sure children's individual needs remain at the centre of practice Overseeing observations, planning and learning opportunities Keeping EYFS practice purposeful without turning children's days into paperwork Supporting Key Person responsibilities across the team Identifying where practitioners need guidance or additional development Building strong relationships with parents and carers Maintaining excellent safeguarding and welfare standards Keeping the room organised, stimulating and properly resourced Working closely with Deputy and Nursery Management Contributing to wider nursery improvement
The setting places particular emphasis on maintaining a highly qualified workforce. Its current team information states that its proportion of qualified staff exceeds minimum Ofsted requirements, with senior staff holding additional safeguarding and leadership responsibilities.

Edenbridge High Street Not tucked away in the middle of nowhere.

51 weeks a year With the nursery closed during Christmas week and on bank holidays.

Proper outdoor provision Including a large play area, safety surfacing and an indoor sandpit.
Air-conditioned rooms Which, when you're working in a nursery through July and August, is worth considerably more than it sounds.
Who are we hoping to find?
You may already be a Room Leader, or you might be a strong Level 3 practitioner who's effectively been doing half the job without the title.
You'll need:
A full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification Solid nursery experience Good practical knowledge of the EYFS Strong safeguarding knowledge Confidence supporting other practitioners The ability to organise a busy room Good communication with parents and colleagues A calm approach when the nursery day doesn't go according to plan
Leadership experience is useful, but the bigger question is whether you're ready to take ownership.
What comes with it?
Current recruitment by this setting confirms a wider employee package including:
£30,000 to £32,000 market-positioned salary for this Room Leader vacancy Permanent, full-time employment Company pension Childcare benefit Employee discount Additional leave Bereavement leave Health and wellbeing programme Referral programme Company events Free parking On-site parking Christmas week closure
The location is another practical advantage. The nursery sits directly on Edenbridge High Street, close to both local railway stations, while free parking is available in the market car park behind the setting.
So if your next move needs to be more than simply changing one practitioner job for another, this gives you a chance to take responsibility for a room while still having an established management structure above you.
