Two to three might be the most entertaining age in nursery.
They're learning to talk.
Learning to negotiate.
Learning they can say no.
Usually quite enthusiastically.
And they're developing at a ridiculous speed.
Tiny Tots Recruitment is looking for a Nursery Room Leader in Surbiton to lead the 2 to 3-year-old room within an established Outstanding-rated nursery on Maple Road. The employer's current vacancy is specifically recruiting for its toddler provision.
If toddlers are the age group you naturally gravitate towards, this is much more appealing than applying for a generic Room Leader position and discovering at interview where they actually need you.
Your job is to make the whole room stronger
You'll still have direct relationships with children.
You'll still be involved in play, routines, observations and learning.
But you'll also be responsible for the practitioners around you.
That includes:
Leading and supporting the room team Deploying practitioners effectively Maintaining high standards of care and education Supporting the Key Person system Allocating children appropriately to key practitioners Making sure provision meets the EYFS Supporting planning and children's development Giving practitioners guidance and feedback Maintaining positive relationships with families Supporting strong safeguarding practice Working alongside the wider nursery management team
Those responsibilities come directly from the current Maple Road Room Leader vacancy.
Toddlers need a particular kind of room
At two and three, almost everything is changing.
Language.
Independence.
Friendships.
Physical confidence.
Emotional regulation.
Toilet training.
The sudden discovery that somebody else touching the exact same red car is apparently a major international incident.
A strong toddler Room Leader understands that behaviour is communication.
You'll need to help your team create an environment where children can test their independence safely, develop language, begin navigating relationships and receive consistent emotional support when everything becomes a little overwhelming.
That's what makes toddler leadership different from simply running any nursery room.
You're joining an Outstanding setting
The Maple Road nursery at Claremont Hall is currently rated Outstanding by Ofsted. The employer also describes it as a home-from-home setting with a supportive team culture and strong early years provision.
And because this is a larger nursery covering babies through to preschool, there is an established leadership structure above you.
That gives you somewhere to develop.
Room Leader doesn't need to be the final stop.
Within the same setting we're recruiting for Third in Charge and Deputy Manager positions too, which shows the leadership structure candidates can potentially progress through.
