Good practitioners make an enormous difference to a child’s first few years - and they should work somewhere that recognises that.
Tiny Tots Recruitment is looking for a Qualified Nursery Practitioner to join a well-established nursery in Wimbledon.
You’ll become part of a supportive early years team where creating strong relationships with children is at the heart of the role.
There’s plenty of variety too. One day might involve messy play and storytelling, another could mean planting vegetables in the garden, heading outside for Forest School or helping prepare children for their next big developmental milestone.
What you'll be doing
As part of the nursery team, you'll:
Provide warm, responsive care throughout the nursery day Build secure relationships with your key children Support children’s learning and development through play Plan activities around children's individual interests Complete observations and developmental records Encourage communication, confidence and independence Create stimulating indoor and outdoor learning opportunities Work closely with parents and carers Support mealtimes, routines and transitions Follow safeguarding and welfare requirements Contribute ideas to the wider room and nursery team Work alongside Room Leaders and senior practitioners to maintain consistently high standards More than just the playroom
Children at the nursery have access to two outdoor gardens, including a dedicated growing area where they can plant and care for vegetables.
There are also opportunities to get involved with:
Forest School sessions Sports and physical activities Yoga and mindfulness Music and movement Storytelling and library activities Community outings Outdoor exploration Activities supporting children with additional needs
The nursery follows a mixture of child-led and adult-led learning, giving practitioners the freedom to respond to children's interests rather than delivering the exact same activities every week.
What you'll need
You must hold a full and relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years qualification or above.
We’re looking for someone who:
Genuinely enjoys working with young children Understands the EYFS Has good safeguarding knowledge Communicates well with parents and colleagues Is dependable and works well within a team Brings ideas and enthusiasm into the room
Experienced practitioners are very welcome, but you don’t need to have ambitions to move into management immediately.
If you simply want to become an excellent practitioner and continue developing your early years knowledge, there is plenty of opportunity to do that too.
Salary
£28,142 to £30,410 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
Plus a £1,000 welcome bonus, subject to the employer's terms and conditions.
Benefits
You’ll also have access to a strong employee benefits package including:
33 days’ annual leave including bank holidays Christmas and New Year shutdown Additional wellbeing day Flexible working opportunities Generous childcare discount Company pension Sick pay from day one Life assurance 24-hour remote GP access Cashback towards dental care and physiotherapy Retail, supermarket, cinema and gym discounts Enhanced maternity and adoption benefits Enhanced paternity leave Paid compassionate and bereavement leave Employee referral rewards Regular training and professional development Recognition schemes Opportunities to progress into senior, room leadership and management roles Location
The nursery is based in Wimbledon and approximately five minutes' walk from Wimbledon train station, making it particularly convenient for candidates travelling from across South West London.
It is also currently rated Good by Ofsted and has an established nursery and management team.
If you’re looking for a nursery where you can build relationships, develop professionally and feel like part of the team rather than simply another name on the rota, we’d love to hear from you.
Apply today and Tiny Tots Recruitment will be in touch to discuss the opportunity.
