Nursery Practitioner

Qualified Nursery Practitioner

Surbiton, London full time Permanent

£28,142 to £30,410 per year

You don't have to become a Room Leader tomorrow to keep moving forward in early years. This Qualified Nursery Practitioner job in Surbiton pays £28,142 to £30,410 plus a £1,000 welcome bonus, with regular pay reviews, 33 days' annual leave, Christmas shutdown, flexible working options and genuine opportunities to develop when you're ready.

A good practitioner career doesn't have to be rushed.

Not everybody wants their next move to involve managing six people and answering every difficult question in the room.

Sometimes you want a better nursery, better pay and somewhere you can keep building your experience first.

Tiny Tots Recruitment is looking for a Qualified Nursery Practitioner in Surbiton to join an established nursery just five minutes from Surbiton Station.

The salary is £28,142 to £30,410 per year, depending on experience and qualifications, with regular pay reviews and a £1,000 welcome bonus.

Come in as a practitioner. Decide what comes next later.

This is part of a larger nursery group with a clear internal progression structure.

So if, eventually, you want to move towards:

Room Leader

then

Third in Charge

then

Deputy or Nursery Manager

there is a route to do it.

But you don't need to arrive pretending management is your immediate goal.

For now, your focus can stay where it should be:

Building strong relationships with children Taking responsibility for your key group Supporting children's individual development Planning engaging experiences Observing and recognising meaningful next steps Creating stimulating indoor and outdoor environments Supporting communication, confidence and independence Building positive relationships with parents and carers Maintaining strong safeguarding practice Working collaboratively with the wider nursery team Continuing to develop your own early years knowledge

The employer describes the nursery team as supportive and focused on creating an environment where staff feel valued and able to grow.

There's plenty happening beyond the room

The setting is based in a renovated barn on Claremont Road and has a free-flow garden, regular community outings and Forest School experiences.

Children also take part in programmes built around:

Movement and physical development Cooking Investigation and discovery Health and wellbeing Growing and gardening Music Outdoor exploration

There is also an on-site chef preparing fresh meals each day.

So you aren't trying to create the entire curriculum from one cupboard of craft supplies.

The location is hard to argue with

The nursery is at 62 Claremont Road, Surbiton KT6 4RH and is around five minutes' walk from Surbiton Station.

For London nursery work, that sort of transport access genuinely matters.

Particularly when you're doing the journey five days a week.

The package

Alongside the salary and £1,000 joining payment, the current employer package includes:

£28,142 to £30,410 per year Regular pay reviews £1,000 welcome bonus 33 days' annual leave including bank holidays Christmas and New Year shutdown Flexible working options Significant childcare discount £500 refer-a-friend bonus Company pension with employer contributions Statutory Sick Pay from day one Life assurance Additional wellbeing day Enhanced maternity and adoption leave Four weeks' fully paid paternity leave Paid parental bereavement leave Paid compassionate leave Paid miscarriage leave 24-hour remote GP appointments Medical cashback including dental and physiotherapy Retail, cinema, supermarket and gym discounts Recognition and reward programmes Tailored training and progression opportunities

After two years, eligible staff can also access up to an additional week of leave for a significant life event through the employer's Grand Event benefit.

Who are we looking for?

We're looking for somebody with a full and relevant early years qualification and previous nursery experience.

You'll ideally be confident with:

The EYFS Safeguarding Key Person responsibilities Observations and assessment Parent communication Supporting children's individual needs Working as part of a room team

You don't need to be looking for promotion immediately.

But it's useful knowing that if you become ready for more responsibility, there are Room Leader, Third in Charge and management positions within the wider organisation rather than needing to leave to progress.
