Early Years Teaching

Permanent early years teacher jobs

Early Years TeachingPermanent UK-wide

Level 6 practice leadership. The role that lets a setting run 1:13 with over-threes, and that usually leads the curriculum.

£30,000 to £38,000 outside London

Guide band for 2026. See how we work these out.

Early Years Teacher Status is not the same as QTS. EYTS specialises in birth to five; QTS covers school age. Either lets a setting operate the 1:13 ratio for over-threes, but only while working directly with the children.

What the role involves

  • Leading curriculum and pedagogy across the setting
  • Working directly with children, which is what actually unlocks the 1:13 ratio
  • Coaching practitioners on quality of teaching rather than only compliance
  • Assessment, school readiness and transition into reception

What you will need

  • EYTS, EYPS, or QTS with an early years specialism
  • A UK first degree or equivalent for those coming through EYITT
  • Someone who wants to lead practice rather than retreat into an office

Also advertised as: EYTS Teacher, Early Years Professional, Nursery Teacher. Settings use these titles more or less interchangeably, so search for all of them.
