A small market with a specific requirement. Settings running genuine Montessori practice want the diploma and are usually prepared to wait for it, which makes these roles worth being on a list for.
What the role involves
- Prepared environment, freely chosen work and uninterrupted work cycles
- Observation-led planning in the Montessori tradition, alongside EYFS requirements
- Presenting materials correctly, and knowing when not to intervene
- Explaining the method to parents who chose it without fully understanding it
What you will need
- Montessori diploma (MCI or equivalent), usually alongside a Level 3
- Experience in a setting that ran the method properly
- Comfort holding Montessori practice inside the EYFS framework
Also advertised as: Montessori Practitioner, Montessori Directress. Settings use these titles more or less interchangeably, so search for all of them.
